Homefun

Homefun - Learning at home school AND home should be FUN!  Below are the weekly required homefun activities.  I encourage you to READ READ READ with your students each night.  Read the directions for cooking dinner or the description of the TV show you're watching.

We use the UNIVERSAL HOMEFUN MODEL by Whole Brain Teaching

Students have the opportunity to earn up to 3 stars.
Class stars will be tallied daily and we will try to earn MIND SOCCER TIME on Fridays.

* READ:  Students in 4th grade should be reading 20-30 minutes each evening.  The level of the book is less important than the actual reading.  Some students enjoy reading easier books to younger siblings, student will have the opportunity to check out books from the classroom library to read.

*SUPER SPEED MATH/READ1000:  Each night students should work on their super speed math facts for addition/subtraction/multiplication and division.  On Monday and Wednesday students should work on their READ 1000 packet as well. Each night is a different level.  Time for one minute, record level number and level.  Start over and time for a second minute trying beat your score.  If a student makes NO mistakes and passes their first time, they can start on the next line the next time they play this level.
MONDAY: Addition / READ 1000
TUESDAY: Subtraction
WEDNESDAY: Multiplication / READ 1000
THURSDAY: Division

**1+ Page Neat Letter: Students write a one page plus neat letter to teacher about reading

***1+ Page Neat Letter/PLUS SLOPPY COPY: Student writes one page plus neat letter, and include sloppy copy AND final draft.

OCCASIONALLY:  At times we'll be working on a particular skill in reading, math, social studies, or science where students need to bring home work to finish.  These assignments are not every day or week.
